Your calendar type is set when you first create a calendar. Unlike other fields for your calendar, once set, this cannot be changed, so be sure to create the right type of calendar to avoid needing to manually redo work later on. The following are the types of calendars:
Personal Booking - Utilized when you want a calendar only associated with a single user, this allows contacts to book a meeting with the user at the user’s preferred location.
Round Robin - Utilized when you want a calendar that is associated with multiple users, but for which you only need one user at the meeting (ie. If you have two staff members handling sponsorship calls and want to divide up the calls between them). This calendar allows you to either optimize for availability (showing the booking contact all slots and letting them book whatever time works for them) or optimize for equal distribution (making it so that the bookings are evenly distributed between all users set for the calendar). You can also customize the priority level of users in the calendar.
Class Booking - Utilized when you have multiple times offered for a class and you want to allow contacts to book their preferred and allow for multiple contacts to attend a class at the same time. The class booking allows you to set a number of seats, allowing multiple contacts to book at the same time using this calendar. You can also utilize date specific hours (rather than weekly available hours) if your “class” is only available on certain dates rather than being open week over week. Keep in mind that a set location is required when utilizing the Class Booking, so you’ll want a preset link or address to use.
Collective Booking - Utilized when you want a contact to book a call with multiple users (for example, if your show has a producer and director who want to meet with speakers at the same time). The collective booking will take into consideration both users’ availability and display to the contact only times when both are able to meet. The collective booking requires at least two users and requires you to set one of the user’s location settings at the default location that will be sent to the contact when they book.
Event Calendar - Utilized when you want to get RSVPs for an event, the event calendar does not utilize users, but instead asks that you add a custom location and set custom time or dates for the event to be available to book. If you only want to allow a single time to be booked for the event, it is strongly recommended to utilize the Date Specific Hours over the Weekly Available Hours.
Service Booking - Typically utilized for appointment-based services such as spas, salons, etc. Service bookings can utilize service menus to allow clients to view a list of available services and even book multiple services at once.
Please keep in mind, that each calendar may have additional fields (or be limited from using certain fields) inside the editor. For more information, please see the subsequent articles in this subcategory.
